Concrete Polishing, Staining, Overlays FAQ
How much does it cost?
Of course, this is the number one question. About a third of the cost of pouring all new concrete. Cost varies widely, depending on the amount of prep work, the color and style you're looking for, and other factors. In general concrete resurfacing is competitive with the price of quality tile work.
Is your product strong enough?
Often our overlays are stronger than the concrete which they
enhance. We have developed our own, proprietary recipe using the
strongest products in the business. We use modified concrete that
bonds to, and becomes part of your existing concrete.
What's the difference between polishing and grinding?
Polishing concrete is one method to give concrete that shiny,
glassy look. Successively finer grits are used to smooth out and
polish your floors. Grinding concrete is a similar process, but
with a different purpose: usually to level out concrete that is
uneven.
Can you fix the cracks in my concrete?
Concrete cracks cannot be "fixed" per se, only filled. Our
overlays mask filled cracks very well. That being said, if your
slab is moving (for instance you live on a hillside) the cracks
may one day reflect up through the overlay.
How long does it take to install?
On average about 3 days, depending on size.
My house has carpets, can I use the concrete underneath?
No problem! We specialize in fixing up that old ugly floor
underneath. Call us at (818) 517-0397 for a free
estimate.
Do I have to remove appliances/cabinets/toilets?
It's always best to move furniture and appliances, but if you
can't we can work around them.
I'm having painting done, should I paint first?
It depends on your situation. If you paint first, we ask that
your painters maintain a clean area and do not let any paint
spill or drip on your floors.
Does the stain or color fade or wear out?
As long as the concrete is sealed, color and stain will not
fade.
Do I have to reseal it every year?
Usually not. Frequency depends on usage and traffic. All of
our projects receive industrial-grade sealers that last through a
lot of seasons.
What kind of maintenance does it require?
Simple washing with a mild detergent is all that's
required.
